Hieracium spilopaeum Leopard Spotted Hawkweed

An unusual, variegated form of the species that is native to Europe. Produces clumping rosettes of highly attractive, maroon-purple and blue-green spotted leaves, with tall, erect stems, carrying yellow, daisy-like flowers from May into September. A great plant for bees and butterflies. Height 45 cm. Moisture retentive, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Comes true from seed.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Can be sown from autumn to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot cool over winter. Keep warm at 15 to 20°C in spring until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
