Geranium polyanthes
12 seeds per packet.
A rare species in cultivation and native to the Himalayas, China (Sichuan, NW. Yunnan) and N. Myanmar. A low growing, perennial Geranium that through the summer produces tight clusters of small, vivid pink flowers with darker veining, borne in clusters at the top of the stems and circular, almost glossy leaves. After flowering has finished, it can go on to produce cleistogamic flowers. Height 10 to 30 cm. Well-drained soil in a sunny position. This species produces seeds that look very different to most Geranium seeds.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Can be sown from autumn to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot cool over winter. Keep warm at 15 to 20°C in spring until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
