Potentilla megalantha ex. Japan
25 seeds per packet.
Seed has been collected from plants originally grown from wild collected seed from Japan. A low-growing, perennial species, native to rocky slopes of eastern China and Japan. Produces thick, strawberry-like, green foliage covered in a silvery-grey, pubescent overlay and bright, yellow, saucer-shaped flowers with orange centres. Flowering May to June. Height 20 cm. Well-drained soil in sun to light shade.
Can be sown from autumn to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot cool over winter. Keep warm at 15 to 20°C in spring until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
