Hylotelephium ussuriense Michael Wickenden Collection
50+ small seeds per packet.
A collection by the late, great Michael Wickenden. A creeping, hardy perennial in the Crassulaceae family (formerly Sedum ussuriense) that is native to S. Russia, Korea and Japan. Produces thick, rounded, succulent leaves and starry, carmine red flowers in July to October. The foliage dramatically changes in colour depending upon seasonal temperatures, starting purple-red in spring, turning glaucous green in summer and reverting back to purple-red in the autumn, until it dies back in winter. Height 35 cm. Well-drained soil in sun to part shade. Suitable for growing in a rock garden or as groundcover.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sow from March to June. Surface sow small seeds thinly, press in gently and keep top of pot moist. Keep pot warm at 15 to 20°C until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
