Price is for two small bulbils.
An unusual and attractive Japanese selection of the species with toothed, variegated, white and green leaves. It was found, introduced and named by Cedric Basset. 'Hekiga' means 'fresco' in Japanese. As its species name suggests, it produces bulbils in the leaf axils in autumn (see photo 4). These bulbils later fall to the ground and grow into new plants. A member of the Urticaceae family with stems that have very fine, stinging hairs - the stinging sensation is like a small electric shock but this does not last long and this is nothing compared to our native stinging nettle! Height 50 to 150cm. Moist but well-drained, humus rich soil in part to full shade.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sow upon receipt at twice the bulbil’s depth. Keep the pot in cool but frost free conditions over winter. Bulbils come into growth easily from spring onwards.
