Geranium procurrens
6 seeds per packet.
A clump-forming species, rarely seen in cultivation, that is native to Nepal and Assam. Produces deeply lobed leaves and, on long stems, vivid magenta flowers with a black centre, veined in darker purple from July into November. It forms good ground cover via its stems, which root where it creeps, forming new colonies of plants. Height 30 cm. Moisture retentive soil in part shade to full shade. This species is a parent of some garden hybrids.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Can be sown from autumn to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot cool over winter. Keep warm at 15 to 20°C in spring until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
