Laportea bulbifera Bulbous Nettle x 5 Bulbils
Price is for five bulbils of varying sizes.
An unusual and very rarely offered Asian woodland species with plain green, toothed leaves. In Japan its young nutritious leaves are cooked like spinach. As its name suggests, it produces bulbils in the leaf axils in autumn. These bulbils later fall to the ground and grow into new plants. A member of the Urticaceae family with stems that have very fine, stinging hairs - the stinging sensation is like a small electric shock but this does not last long and is nothing compared to our common stinging nettle! Height 50 to 150cm. Moist but well-drained, humus rich soil in part to full shade.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sow upon receipt at twice the bulbil’s depth. Keep the pot in cool but frost free conditions over winter. Bulbils come into growth easily from spring onwards.
PLEASE NOTE WE CAN ONLY SHIP THESE LIVE BULBILS TO COUNTRIES WITHIN EUROPE. SORRY BUT ANY ORDER MADE OUTSIDE EUROPE WILL BE REFUNDED.
