Begonia grandis subsp. sinensis aff. var. villosa W/O-9305 x 3 Bulbils
UK CUSTOMERS ONLY! We will refund any order made outside the UK minus a small fee to cover bank charges.
Price is for 3 small bulbils of varying sizes.
A hardy, tuberous form originally collected by August Wu and Bjørnar Olsen in Yunnan, China. Its name is certainly a mouthful but we think this name is correct given its hairy nature, however, erring on the side of caution we are putting an aff. (affinity) in for now. We are the only nursery to offer this species.
Produces angular, green, hairy leaves and pendulous, pink flowers held on hairy stems. The plant’s stems produce bulbils in the autumn, these fall to the ground to produce new plants. Comes into growth quite late in the season. Flowering July into autumn. Height 40 cm. Full to part shade in a sheltered position in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil with a winter mulch.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sow upon receipt at twice the bulbil’s depth. Keep the pot in cool but frost free conditions over winter. Bulbils come into growth easily from spring onwards.
