Thalictrum rochebrunianum var. grandisepalum
15 seeds per packet.
A collection originally from South Korea, producing large, bluish-green lobed foliage and very floriferous sprays of large, pendulous, lavender flowers with yellow stamens, held on tall, erect, purple stems followed by attractive, purple seed heads. Flowering July to August. Height up to 1.8 metres. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade.
It seems to be the case that Thalictrum rochebrunianum var. grandisepalum is all too often being offered by nurseries and seed suppliers as Thalictrum uchiyamae when in fact the real T. uchiyamae is a very short plant indeed with whorls of delicate, light purple flowers and bears no resemblance to it!
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Can be sown from autumn to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot cool over winter. Keep warm at 15 to 20°C in spring until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
