Taraxacum faeroense
15 seeds per packet.
A dwarf species from the Faroe Islands (also known as Taraxacum rubrifolium), where it is now thought extinct and possibly only survives now in cultivation or as a garden escapee. Produces dark purple, almost black rosettes of foliage and short flower stems with contrasting, bright, golden yellow flowers. Flowering late spring to summer. Height 2 to 5 cm. Sun to light shade in any well-drained soil. Perfect for growing in rock gardens or in pots with a gravel surround that can really show off its foliage.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sow from March to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot warm at 15 to 20°C until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
