Cirsium aomorense ex. Japan
20 seeds per packet.
The seeds we offer have been harvested from plants grown by us from seeds collected from Aomori, Japan. We are probably the first nursery to introduce this species into cultivation. It is native to Japan and forms clumps of long, thick, glossy, softly spined leaves and, from June to August, purple-pink flowers held on erect, cottony haired stems. Fantastic plant for bees and other insects. Height 90 cm. Sun in moisture retentive soil.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Can be sown from autumn to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot cool over winter. Keep warm at 15 to 20°C in spring until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
