A member of the Cucurbitaceae family, Red Bryony is a tendril-climbing perennial, native to southern Europe and North Africa where it grows in scrub, hedgerows and woodland. The vine produces five-pointed leaves and greenish-white, star shaped flowers followed by red berries in autumn. Plants are dioecious and require a male and female plant to produce berries. Flowering May to June. Height 3.5 to 4 metres. Sun in well-drained soil. ALL PARTS OF THIS PLANT ARE POISONOUS.
