A low-growing, perennial species, native to the rocky slopes of eastern China and Japan. Produces thick, strawberry-like, green foliage covered in a silvery-grey, pubescent overlay and bright yellow, saucer-shaped flowers with orange centres. Flowering May to June. Height 20 cm. Well-drained soil in sun to light shade.
