It is very similar to the European species I. pseudacorus but smaller in all respects. It is a vigorous species with creeping rhizomes and sword-shaped, grey-green leaves (45 cm long). It has many branched, flowering stems that carry flowers in May and come in various shades of yellow. Moist soil in full sun. Cold germinator.
