Polygonatum mengtzense f. tonkinensis BSWJ8231
6 seeds per packet. A high altitude, epiphytic species collected by Bleddyn and Sue Wynn-Jones from Vietnam. Produces arching, evergreen, purple-red stems and beautiful, purple foliage when young with small, nodding, purple-red flower bells which are borne in clusters at each leaf axil in late spring to summer, followed by red berries in autumn to spring. Height 40 cm. Part to full shade. Has proven fully hardy with us here. As it is an epipytic species it is therefore best grown in a pot with plenty of drainage. Cold germinator.
