A rarely offered shrub in in the Araliaceae family that is native to the moist, mountain forests of the pacific northwest of America. Produces large, palmate foliage, woody, spiny stems and umbels of small, greenish-white flowers in summer followed by bunches of red berries in the autumn. Height to 1.5 metres. Part to full shade in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil.
