A native of the woodlands, mountain meadows and rocky hillsides of western North America. Grows from a thick, deep taproot and produces waxy, glaucous-blue foliage and umbels of yellow flowers in summer. The plant has medicinal uses and has been used as a traditional food source. Height 70 cm. Well-drained soil in sun to part shade.
