Impatiens arguta Alba
A hardy, perennial species that is native to the mountains of Nepal, Tibet and western China. Leaves are long and shallowly serrated on stems growing up to 150 cm tall. The open branches are adorned with very large, tubular, white, orchid-like flowers with yellow marked throats and spurs that are produced from midsummer into autumn. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. Can be pot grown or planted in the garden. Hardy to -12 C in the ground with a winter mulch. If pot grown, it requires full protection from frosts.
