Price is for eight small bulbils. A hardy, tuberous, woodland species from China collected by Bleddyn Wynn-Jones. Produces green leaves with attractive, dark red undersides and pendulous, pink flowers. The leaves of this species are more angular than Begonia grandis, which it closely resembles. The plant’s stems on this selection are attractive having red nodes that produce bulbils in the autumn, these fall to the ground to produce new plants. Comes into growth quite late in the season. Flowering July into autumn. Height 30 cm. Full to part shade in a sheltered position in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil with a winter mulch.
Bulbils are sown as you would do with seeds and these will freely germinate in late spring after a cold period.
