Impatiens omeiana ‘Sango’
A hardy, perennial species collected originally from China. Personally, we think this is the same plant as ‘Silver Pink’ that has been in cultivation amongst collectors for a while because we cannot tell the difference between the two. ‘Sango’ spreads by rhizomes and produces amazing leaves with a band of metallic pink and silver dusting along the veins. Large, yellow, orchid-like flowers with curling spurs appear from August into October. Height 40 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. Hardy to -15 C (possibly more) in the ground with a winter mulch. If pot grown it requires full protection from frosts.
