Impatiens mengtzeana PB 02-519 (Upright Form) SOLD OUT
A hardy, perennial species still rare in cultivation that is native to SW China, Sikkim, India and Thailand. This is a Patrick Blanc collection from Sikkim, India where it was found growing along streams. Produces thick, long, glossy, serrated leaves and large, yellow-orange, orchid-like flowers with curling spurs in autumn. This is a robust form with thick stems that stays completely upright. Height 60 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool, sheltered position. Hardy to -5 C (possibly a little more) in the ground with a winter mulch but if pot grown it requires full protection from frosts.
