Hemiboea subcapitata BO-15-100 Available May/June
The plants we offer originate from divisions of plants grown by us from seed originally collected by Bjørnar Olsen in Jindouwan, Chengkou, Chongqing, China. A rare, herbaceous member of the Gesneriaceae family and one of the hardiest, native to the moist woodlands of China. Produces succulent, glossy, dark foliage, stems mottled in purple at the bottom and tubular, white flowers with orange and purple spotting inside. Spreads to form clumps via rhizomes buried just under the soil surface. Flowering September to October. Height 30 cm. Part to full shade in a sheltered position in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil. Hardy to -17 C, probably more.
