The plants we offer originate from divisions of plants grown by us from seed originally collected by Bjørnar Olsen in Jindouwan, Chengkou, Chongqing, China. A very hardy herbaceous member of the Gesneriaceae with a strong affinity to H. subcapitata. Produces succulent, glossy, dark foliage, stems mottled in purple and tubular, white flowers with orange and purple spotting inside. Spreads to form clumps via rhizomes buried just under the soil surface. Flowering September to October. Height 30 cm. Part to full shade in a sheltered position in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil. Hardy to -17 C, probably more.
