A highly variable, rhizomatous species that is native to moist, shaded forests of Asia. This Himalayan form produces large, palmate, richly coloured leaves (especially when young) with striking red undersides. Height 60 cm.Part to full shade in a cool sheltered position in moist humus rich, well-drained soil with a winter mulch. Hardy with us to -5C.
