A rosette-forming perennial species, native to the Himalayas that produces glossy, thistle-like foliage (that stays evergreen in mild winters) and whorls of tubular white flowers in summer that turn from rose to crimson as each flower is fertilised. Height 90 cm. Moist, well-drained soil in sun to semi-shade. Cold germinator.
