Begonia sikkimensis (U614)
1 packet of approximately 100+, naturally small, hand pollinated, fresh seeds. A Michael Wickenden collection from Arunachachal Pradesh, India (assigned the number U614 by the American Begonia Society as an unidentified species). Very attractive, distinctive, serrated foliage in silvery green, brown and red shades. Flowers are white with pink tints. Looks stunning in a pot in the garden up until the first frosts. Height to 60 cm. Full to part shade in a sheltered position in a moist humus rich well draining soil. Reports from other growers say that this plant has been hardy to -8C with a winter mulch - we have never tested how hardy it is, so would recommend keeping it frost free in colder climates until it has been further tested. Before purchasing, please do a Google search for instructions on how to grow Begonias from seed as, due to their size, they may be difficult to grow for inexperienced gardeners (and instructions will not be sent).
