A rarely offered perennial with a long history of medicinal and magical use that is native to lightly shaded, rocky sites in northern Italy, western Yugoslavia and Turkey. Produces large, pubescent leaves and lavender-blue flowers in winter to early spring, followed by yellow fruits. Very well-drained soil in dappled shade with winter moisture (when it breaks dormancy). Keep cool and drier in the summer months (when the plant becomes dormant). Height 30 cm. PLEASE NOTE ALL PARTS OF THIS PLANT ARE TOXIC.
