Impatiens omeiana ‘Pink Nerves’
A newly introduced, hardy, perennial species from China. It spreads by rhizomes and produces amazing, vivid, wine red stems and undersides early in the season and serrated green leaves with magenta pink veins. Large, yellow, orchid-like flowers with curling spurs appear from August into October. This is not the same plant as the one being sold as I. Silver Pink - in cultivation there are clear differences between the two clones. Height 50 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. Hardy to -15C (possibly more) in the ground with a winter mulch. If pot grown, it requires full protection from frosts.
