A hardy, perennial species collected from Sichuan Province, China by Daniel Probst. It spreads by rhizomes with fleshy, unmarked, green leaves and very large, golden yellow, orchid-like flowers with curling spurs from September into October. Height 50 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. Hardy to -15C (possibly more) in the ground with a winter mulch. If pot grown, it requires full protection from frosts.
