Undoubtedly our favourite Horsetail with its almost fluorescent yellow banding. It's rumoured to be a selection from Japan which we think is highly probable as the Japanese have the most exquisite plant selections and it has been assigned a more commercial westernised, if not vacuous, name (it happens a lot!). It's a far less vigorous grower than Equisetum hyemale, in fact its taken quite a few years for it to form a nice sized clump here. It goes without saying it's best planted in a container if you don’t want it to run ... but I can think of much more invasive plants being sold widely without any warnings! Height 50 cm. Keep in permanently moist soil in sun to part shade.
