Pyrrosia lingua ‘Ogon Nishiki’ Variegated Pyrrosia IN STOCK LATE AUTUMN / WINTER
1 packet of freshly collected spores (a good pinch containing hundreds). A Japanese selection of the epiphytic, rock-dwelling fern native to North East Asia. From surface creeping rhizomes, tongue-shaped, evergreen fronds are produced with wavy margins and bands of yellow variegation. The backs of the fronds are a copper-brown in colour and possess a felted feel. Maximum height 30 cm. Grow in bright light as this will show its variegation best. Do not over water but preferably keep dry between waterings and drier in the winter. Grow in an open potting medium such as orchid bark with a little moss in a basket or, in milder climates, in the garden planted on a slope in a sheltered spot. Hardy to zones 7b to 10b. Before purchasing, please do an internet search for instructions on how to grow ferns from spores as they are not grown like normal seeds (and instructions will not be sent).
