A rare and endemic, perennial plant in the Poppy family that is native to the mountain forests of Northern Japan. It produces rosettes of very unusual, semi-evergreen foliage (which resemble a fern) and spikes of pendulous, white, bell-shaped flowers in June. Height 20 cm. Part shade in humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil. Photo 1 by kind permission of Solveig Neunteufel-Arnold.
