The seeds we offer have been harvested from plants grown by us from seed collected in Tianzhushan, Anqing, Anhui, China. A beautiful perennial that is native to China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and India with serrated leaves and delicate clusters of airy, pink flowers, fading to pale pink in summer through to late autumn, followed by fluffy seed heads. Populations are quite variable in the wild and this one has quite distinctive mottling on the stems. A fantastic plant for pollinators. Height up to to 1 metre. Sun to dappled shade in humus rich, well-drained soil.
Previously sold as Eupatorium japonicum.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sow from March to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot warm at 15 to 20°C until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
