Aster scaber Korean Aster Chwinamul W/O-9268
25 seeds per packet.
The seeds we offer have been harvested from plants grown by us from seed collected in China. A perennial that is native to the mountains of China, Korea and Japan, with large, cordate-shaped leaves that are serrated at the edges, and tall spikes of small, delicate, starry, white flowers on erect stems, which are produced from late summer into late autumn. With its distinctive fragrance and taste, it is frequently used in Korean cooking as well as a medicinal herb. Fantastic plant for insects. Height 1.2 metres. Sun to dappled shade in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil. It is pretty scarce in cultivation though slowly gaining popularity amongst forest gardening growers. We were the first nursery to introduce our own home grown seeds in the UK and Europe.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Can be sown from autumn to June. Cover seed thinly, press in gently and keep top of compost from drying out. Keep pot cool over winter. Keep warm at 15 to 20°C in spring until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
Carefully prick out seedlings when they have developed true leaves and are large enough to transplant to individual pots to grow on.
