Polygonatum curvistylum BO-16-113
The plants we offer have been grown by us from seed collected by Bjørnar Olsen in Jiajinshan, Xiaojin, Sichuan, China at 3500 metres. As far as we are aware, there are only two clones of this species in cultivation and this is one of them. All others being sold under this name in the UK are misidentified and are in fact Polygonatum cirrhifolium - both species begin with the letter 'C' but that really is all the characteristics they share! This lovely clone we offer produces slender stems and whorls of narrow foliage that are held downwards as they emerge in spring. Inflated purple and white flowers are borne in clusters at each leaf axil in late spring to summer, followed by red/purple berries in the autumn. Height 30cm. Part sun to part shade in humus rich, moist, well-drained soil.
Grown from seeds as Polygonatum sp., verticillate BO-16-113 and previously sold as such before it flowered and we were able to confirm its identity.
