Elatostema umbellatum var. majus ‘Ogon’
A Japanese selection with bright golden foliage. A rarely encountered foliage plant that forms good ground cover once established. Produces arching stems with attractive, long-toothed foliage and clusters of very small, white flowers from the leaf axils, followed by purple coloured bulbils (these fall to the ground to produce more plants). The species is eaten as a wild vegetable in Japan. A member of the Urticaceae family that does not sting. Height 20 to 30 cm. Moist but well-drained, humus rich soil in part to full shade.
