- Acer stachyophyllum W/O-8015
Acer stachyophyllum W/O-8015
The plants we offer have been grown by us from seed collected by August Wu and Bjørnar Olsen in Heqing, Laojunshan, Yunnan, China at 2925 metres (previously sold under the name Acer cf. sikkimense). A colourful, hardy, single or multi-stemmed species of Acer with white pubescent and dramatic red spring foliage, red petioles, yellow-brown bark and elongated, three lobed, toothed leaves, which turn a beautiful orange and red in autumn. The stems also turn a very attractive reddish-orange colour through the winter months. Maximum height 15 metres. Part shade in a moisture retentive, well-drained soil in a sheltered position.
This collection differs from Acer stachyophyllum W/O-8014 in that W/O-8015 has less lobed leaves and the autumn colouration is orange and red, while W/O-8014 has more strongly lobed leaves, which turn yellow in autumn.
