Begonia species from India
Our original plant was sold under the name of B. cathayana but it is more likely a form of the highly variable species B. palmata. Green, palmate foliage with slight, central colouring of purple to the younger leaves and white flowers in autumn. Height 50 cm. Full to part shade in a sheltered position in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil. Not tested for hardiness (though it could potentially take a very light frost with a mulch), so we would suggest growing it as a potted specimen in the garden and bringing it in before the first frosts.
