A hardy, perennial species, collected by Charles Boulanger in Yunnan, China, that is very rare in cultivation. Produces beautiful, large, white, orchid-like flowers, finely streaked in raspberry pink, with yellow throats from midsummer into autumn, as well as pubescent foliage and stems. Height 60 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. Can be pot grown or planted in the garden. Hardy to -12C (possibly more) in the ground with a winter mulch. If pot grown, it requires full protection from frosts.
