Begonia hatacoa ‘Silver’
A rhizomatous species that is native to the moist, shaded forests of Bhutan, Nepal and northern India. This form of the species produces long, tapering, upright, metallic silver leaves with reddish undersides and white flowers in the autumn. Height 60 cm. Moderate sun to part shade in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil. This plant is a tender perennial and we recommend keeping your plant in a greenhouse or as a houseplant. Although not tolerant of cold it can, however, be grown as a potted specimen in a sheltered part of the garden during summer months.
