Polygonatum mengtzense HWJ861
A high altitude, epiphytic species collected by Daniel Hinkley from Vietnam. Produces arching, evergreen, purple-red stems and beautiful, purple foliage when young with small, nodding, purple-green flower bells which are borne in clusters at each leaf axil in late spring to summer, followed by red berries in autumn to spring. Height 40 cm. Part to full shade. Has proven fully hardy with us here. As it is an epipytic species, it is therefore best grown in a pot with plenty of drainage.
