A compact, herbaceous perennial, native to Japan and China, with blue-green, lance-shaped leaves and large, balloon-like buds opening to wide, cup-shaped, violet-blue flowers that are 5cm across. Flowering from June to August. Height 60 cm. Sun to part shade in moist, well-draining soil. Warm germinator.
