Glaucidium palmatum Japanese Wood Poppy
A beautiful plant and member of the poppy family, still rare in cultivation and endemic to northern and eastern Japan. Produces very attractive, deeply lobed leaves up to 20 cm wide and bearing, in May, exquisite, saucer-shaped, poppy-like flowers up 10 cm wide that are a delicate lilac-mauve in colour. Height up to 60 cm. Part to full shade in moist, humus rich well-draining soil.
