A rare, evergreen perennial from the sloping, forested habitats of China. Rosettes of green, lance-shaped foliage and, from March to April, the most beautifully perfumed, lilac and white, starry flowers on upright stems. Ypsilandra cavalerei differs from Y. thibetica in that it is a smaller plant with narrower leaves and the flowers turn a lovely pink shade after being pollinated. Height 25 cm. Humus rich, moist but well-drained soil in part to full shade.
