Selaginella kraussiana ‘Gold Tips’ Back in stock 2023
Selaginella, known as spikemoss or clubmoss, is a prehistoric fern relative, predating the development of seeds among plants. Spikemoss forms an attractive, low, creeping, dense mat of feathery leaves, quickly covering the soil's surface. They are stunning when grown as a miniature in a small pot (especially beautiful when they spill down the sides); an alternative for Bonsai moss; ground cover for shady places where nothing else will grow (as they have a shallow root system); in a cold greenhouse or as underplanting around ferns and orchids. Plants prefer a rich, moist to wet soil and shady conditions, a combination that never allows them to dry out. These have proven hardy outside here in Scotland in a sheltered spot.
