An amazing new introduction but, frustratingly, no information can be found on this variety’s origins (though we suspect it's a wild collection). It is also being sold by nurseries as a variety of P. microcephala which it clearly isn’t, as anyone who has grown P. runcinata will realise. Forms clumps of extremely attractive, arrow-shaped, hairy leaves with a v-shaped, purple and silver band and white flower heads from summer into late autumn. It can be a vigorous, spreading plant in milder climates. Height 90 cm. Average to moist, well-drained soil in sun to light shade.
