A collection from Eastern Nepal by Dan Hinkley and Sue and Bleddyn Wynn-Jones. A hardy, perennial species that is native to the forests of Nepal. This low growing, creeping species (rooting where it touches the ground) produces deep purple-blue, orchid-like, summer flowers and hairy foliage. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. Can be pot grown or planted in the garden. Hardy to -15C (possibly more) in the ground with a winter mulch. If pot grown, it requires full protection from frosts.
