Impatiens omeiana ‘Ice Storm’ Available May/June
A hardy, clump-forming, tuberous, perennial species collected from China. Differs from the standard form of Impatiens omeiana in that it has beautifully silver-frosted leaves and large, orchid-like, creamy yellow and white flowers with red spotted throats and curling spurs from late summer into autumn. Height 30 to 50 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. Can be pot grown or planted in the garden. Hardy to -15 C (possibly more) in the ground with a winter mulch. If pot grown, it requires full protection from frosts.
