Impatiens arguta ‘Big Form’
A hardy, perennial species that is native to the mountains of Nepal, Tibet and western China. Leaves are long and shallowly serrated on attractive red stems growing up to 150 cm tall. The open branches are adorned with very large, tubular, purple-blue, orchid-like flowers with orange marked throats and spurs, produced from midsummer into autumn. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. Can be pot grown or planted in the garden. Hardy to -8 C in the ground with a winter mulch. If pot grown, it requires full protection from frosts.
