Begonia grandis subsp. holostyla ‘Nanjiang Silver’
A new variety of the species collected from Sichuan, China that is ideal for growing in a woodland type garden. Produces silver spotted leaves (more pronounced in the first spring leaves) with red undersides and pink, autumn flowers. The plant's stems are attractive, having red nodes that produce bulbils in the autumn. Comes into growth quite late in the season. Height 45 cm. Full to part shade in a sheltered position in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil with a winter mulch. Fully hardy in the UK.
